The local parish in Sandringham, who established Fernhill in the Seventies, were keen for their 'stand alone' aged care facility to join a larger group that has the expertise and experience to run and develop their home.
Importantly they wanted to join a group that exists to care for people, not to care for shareholders.
Fernhill Mercy is nearly 30 years old and we will redevelop the home to improve the accommodation for residents and staff. The redeveloped home will also meet future Government standards and the higher expectations of new residents.
All existing employees at the home have been offered employment with Mercy and the existing residents will continued to be cared for in true 'Mercy fashion'.
