National Nanna's Night

Australia was painted purple as we celebrated our sensational nannas with the second annual National Nanna's Night on 26 July. Aged care facilities, community groups and families celebrated their nannas in more than 170 events held from Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory to Colac in Victoria. Circle 25 July 2009 in your diaries for next year's National Nanna's Night! Funds raised by Mercy Health activities go to the aged care department.

National Nanna's Night at Mt St Joseph's Nursing Home

Staff at Mt St Joseph's Nursing Home hosted a fundraising bingo event in July to celebrate National Nanna's Night. As a daytime event, the name was altered to 'Nanna's Day at MSJ'. It was a smashing success, with residents and staff inviting their family members along. Bingo winners won a variety of prizes including chocolates, purple slippers, a crocheted rug and a collection of colourfully knitted beanies, all kindly donated.
