On 28 July, Mercy Public Hospitals Inc published its first "Hospital Research Report", which covers a range of clinical research conducted during 2008.

This publication was managed by Associate Professor David Allen, Chairman of the Academic Research and Development Committee for Mercy Health.

"I would like to thank the various departments from Mercy Hospital for Women, Werribee Mercy Hospital, Mercy Mental Health and Mercy Palliative Care for their contributions," said David. "I also thank my executive assistant, Vicky Karitinos, for her assistance in collating these responses."

David says that Mercy Health's research capability has grown enormously over the years, with well established programs and projects now in place. Many different institutions and funding bodies support research at Mercy Health hospitals and add to the vibrancy of work in this area.

He added that he hopes the 2009 Hospital Research Report will be "bigger and better than the inaugural publication", and will advise health services of the next call for report submissions.
