As a leading health care provider, Mercy Health has a responsibility to the community to provide healthy lifestyle choices. In addition, there is a legal responsibility under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 to provide a safe working environment to all staff by reducing risks to their health. For these vital reasons, Werribee Mercy Hospital (WMH) and Mercy Mental Health (MMH) grounds, buildings, car parks and company vehicles will be totally smoke free as of 1 July 2010.
