Mercy Hospital for Women offers the care and support you will need while you are pregnant, during your labour and after the birth.

Most births at the hospital are straight forward and uncomplicated but it is reassuring to know you and your baby have the backup of specialist medical, midwifery and neonatal staff available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We encourage you to choose a model of care that best suits your individual needs. Options include Standard Care, which is provided by obstetricians and midwives, Shared Care with a GP, Team Maternity or the Family Birth Centre.

Alternatively, if assessed suitable, you may choose to have your baby in the Family Birth Centre. If you wish to choose the Family Birth Centre, please organise a tour by phoning (03) 8458 4082.

Private Patients 

If you have private health insurance or would like to pay for private care you will see an obstetrician of your choice for all care before, during and after the birth of your baby.  

You will be able to stay in either a two-bed shared room or a single private room, both of which have ensuite facilities. Most rooms also have outstanding views.
