Intake and Referral or Triage Service
The triage workers have a major role in determining what services can best meet the needs of a person referred and will make the appropriate arrangements for assessment if needed. If our service cannot meet the identified needs, the triage worker will suggest more appropriate services.

Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT)
This team provides assessment, referral and home treatment service to people with a serious mental illness who are in crisis.  Access to this service is through the Triage service.

Art therapyThe Psychiatric Unit, located at 298 Princes Highway, Werribee, is a ward in the Werribee Mercy Hospital. Twenty-four patients can be treated in this ward. Admission to the ward is usually only sought for those people who have a serious mental illness and are unable to be treated at home. Referrals to the Psychiatric Unit are made through Triage.

The Homeless Outreach Psychiatric Service is located in Footscray and provides an outreach service to the homeless population who have a psychiatric illness in our area.  Referrals to the Homeless Outreach Service are made through Triage.

The Mother Baby Unit is located within Werribee Mercy Hospital and is a 6 bed (and 6 cot) unit for women with post-partum psychiatric disorders and their non-toddling infants of under 12 months. Referral to this unit can be made directly by any health professional.

The Primary Mental Health Team supports general practitioners and other primary health providers in the treatment of 'high prevalence' psychiatric disorders (such as depression and anxiety). Referral to the PMHT can only be accessed by a general practitioner and/or community health counsellor.

Rehabilitation Services

The rehabilitation services aim to help people recover as well as possible from their illness and lead a productive and satisfying life. We have three teams providing differing rehabilitation services.

The Community Care Unit provides intensive 24 hour rehabilitation programs to people who require this degree of assistance to learn or relearn to manage their illness and issues of everyday life.

The Mobile Support Team provides an intensive outreach rehabilitation service to people in their own homes.

The Continuing Care Team offers support to people who require less intensive rehabilitation in their recovery from illness.

Referral to our Rehabilitation Services for new clients occurs through Triage.
