TV/phones/electronic equipment

Television Hire, In-house Movies & Radio

The majority of beds are fitted with a 34cm colour television, which can be watched for a daily fee. A range of new release movies and classics are screened over a week on the in-house movie channel and Channels 7, 9 and 10 plus ABC and SBS are available. For safety reasons, the use of personal television sets is not permitted.

Three radio stations - Triple M, Gold FM and Fox FM are transmitted free to all patients through the television regardless of whether or not a television has been hired.

Telephone Hire & Long Distance Calls
Most beds have a phone for patient use and a fixed fee is charged that includes the cost of local calls. Long distance calls are available through the Telstra Phoneaway card system. Cards can be purchased from Reception
.

Mobile Phones & Public Telephones
Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in all clinical / patient areas, as they disturb other patients and can interfere with highly sensitive medical equipment.

Public telephones are located near the Reception Desk, Childbirth Centre, C2 Day Room and Emergency Department
.

Laptop and Handheld Computers
Laptop and handheld computers may only be used by special arrangement. Only stand alone bases may be used as there is no connection available to the telephone system. Please check with the Nurse Manager on duty to discuss the use of your computer
