Services & Facilities

Accident and Emergency Department
The Accident and Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides urgent medical care to members of the community who present for assessment and treatment.  The Department is staffed by specialist emergency personnel offering a comprehensive and caring service to patients.

On arrival, patients are assessed and prioritised in order of urgency.  This can mean some patients may wait for several hours during busy periods.

Community Rehabilitation Centre
The Community Rehabilitation Centre provides rehabilitation services for patients who are disabled, frail, chronically ill or recovering from a traumatic injury.

The Centre is at Shop 13-15, 28 Watton Street, Werribee.  Open
Monday to Friday, 8am - 4.30pm. Phone: (03) 9742 6711.

Day Procedure Unit

The Day Procedure Unit is a specially designed unit that provides care for patients whose condition does not require an overnight stay. The facilities include an area for day surgery, short medical procedures and endoscopy.

Diabetes Education
The hospital's diabetes education unit provides advice and information on diabetes. The unit can be contacted by calling (03) 9216 8839 between 9.00am - 5:30pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Dietitian

Our dietitian can advise patients on many diet issues including healthy eating for all ages, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and treatment, weight management, special needs for the elderly, pregnancy and breastfeeding.  Your doctor may refer you to a dietitian or you may ask nursing staff to request an assessment by a dietitian.

Hospital in the Home

The hospital in the home program enables patients to continue hospital treatment in the familiar surroundings of their own home, with the support of hospital staff. The program helps many people, e.g. women who have undergone a caesarean section and would like to go home earlier than usual or a person being treated with daily intravenous antibiotics or requiring daily dressings which would otherwise require an extended hospital stay.

Admission to the program is voluntary and the medical and nursing staff must agree that your condition can be managed in your home environment. There is no cost involved to the patient while on the program.
