Pre-admission Service The pre-admission service offers a planned approach for patients booked in for elective surgery. The service ensures that the patient is in optimal health for their scheduled operation. We also plan that each patient will be discharged into a safe environment.
Psychiatric Services Ward The Psychiatric Unit is part of the Werribee Mercy Mental Health Program. The unit is an inpatient unit which caters for people with a serious mental illness, who cannot be treated at home, between the ages of 16 and 65 years and who reside in the cities of Wyndham, Hobsons Bay or Maribyrnong. Relatives or carers who want to enquire about a current inpatient can phone (03) 9216 8588.
For mental health emergencies or enquiries regarding a patient who is not currently an inpatient, contact our Triage service: Phone: 1300 657 259
Renal Dialysis Unit The Renal Dialysis Unit exists to provide care for patients with chronic renal failure that require renal replacement therapy. The unit provides haemodialysis to 24 patients who each attend the unit 3 times per week at regular scheduled appointment times for their treatment regime. Treatment times vary between 4-5 hours, depending on individual patient needs.
Social Worker The social work service assists patients of Werribee Mercy Hospital and their families with the transition between hospital and home. Social workers are also available to assist out-patients attending Werribee Mercy Hospital with information on entitlements and support services available in the community.
The social work service does not provide a counselling service to people who are not current clients of Werribee Mercy Hospital. Speech Pathology There is a consultant speech pathologist available at the hospital who is able to assess swallowing functions and assist patients in finding foods that are easier to chew and swallow. The speech pathologist is also able to assist in improving your speech and comprehension following a stroke or other illness.
Surgical Ward We offer a variety of surgery including ear, nose and throat (ENT), urology, plastic surgery and general surgery.
The ward caters for children and adult patients who have undergone elective surgery and adults admitted through our Emergency Department.
Children booked in for elective surgery can visit the ward and tour the hospital with their family prior to admission. We encourage one parent to stay overnight with their child.
